The trailhead is on the south side of a pull-off about 1 mile south of Fishing Bridge junction. After crossing the main road, you walk west about 100 yards on a well-defined trail that parallels the road until you turn and head north. This 3.8-mile loop trail climbs 770 feet as it traverses lodgepole pine forest. At the 0.9-mile mark, there is a junction. Each branch at the junction leads to a beautiful panoramic view of Yellowstone Lake. Wooden benches at the top provide a nice place to rest, view all there is to see, and to eat your picnic. This is a good hike for a family that provides a unique high elevation observation point.
